Students worship at Alaunpark, in Dresden.

“Pablo” was a transgender sex worker. Two Steiger Missions School students met him under a bridge, and they shared the hope of Jesus. Then, he wanted to be baptized.

‍

This year, our Missions School students and volunteers continued proclaiming the Gospel on the streets of Dresden (Germany) and once again brought a bathtub to Alaunpark for public baptisms. Known as a hub of Dresden’s youth culture, the park is associated with partying, drinking, drugs, and radical student groups like ANTIFA. Despite the challenging environment, the cold weather, and the freezing water, God moved powerfully.

‍

Because of his conversation with two students, Pablo gave his life to Jesus and was baptized by Missions School volunteer Nermin.

‍

Nermin is from Bosnia and grew up in a strong Muslim family. Last year, he came to the School as a student, and God burned a calling on his life. He went home and started boldly preaching Jesus despite threats and persecution. His own brother put a hit out on him. They planned to kill him in his church, but God saved his life.

‍

He returned to the School this year as part of our core leadership team, helping lead street outreach in Dresden and baptizing people in Alaunpark. Coming from a country where the majority of people are Muslim, where baptisms are usually kept private, experiencing public baptisms and baptizing people himself was incredibly powerful for him.

Another person Nermin baptized was Marko, one of the last guys baptized during the outreach. Our team was already packing up and getting ready to leave the park when he showed up. One of the students had been talking with him, and they prayed a prayer of repentance together. When Marko decided to get baptized, he was full of joy and excitement.

Protesting in streets of Dresden.

During the street outreaches, the team met Andre, an Antifa activist in Dresden, and ended up spending three hours talking with him in an alley. As they shared the message of the cross, Andre discovered a side of Jesus he had never known before. He even allowed the team to pray for him, and he’s now connected with a local church.

‍

God sent 170 students and volunteers from 31 countries to the Steiger Missions School to be trained to be radical missionaries to the Global Youth Culture. They returned to their countries with a clear sense of calling to reach their generation.

‍

“In the School, we are building an army of people who have experienced what Jesus did on the cross. They have begun to understand that their lives will never, ever be the same once Jesus becomes their hope, their reason for being on this earth, the answer to every single part of their life. I can’t wait to see how these newly graduated students will change the world,” Jodi Pierce.

The students returned home eager to reach their generation in their own cities.
  • 170 students from 31 countries attended the School
  • 941 heard the Gospel in Dresden during outreaches
  • 665 received prayer
  • 18 people received Jesus and were baptized immediately in the park — they are now being discipled.

God is raising up a new generation of young missionaries who are ready to take bold steps of faith, go wherever He leads, and bring the love of Jesus to a generation searching for hope. Will you join us in praying for these young leaders as they follow His calling?
