How Far One Conversation Can Go - Navjot’s Story

“After we talked, I looked up the salvation prayer online and prayed it out loud,” shared Navjot.
When Keilani went out with the Austin (TX) Steiger MVMT Team to share the Gospel on the city’s 6th Street in July, she had no idea that what happened that night would impact someone miles away.
6th Street is known for its darkness—bars, drugs, homelessness, and deep spiritual need. That night, the team was having good conversations and praying with people, until one encounter left Keilani shaken.
“It was discouraging,” she shared. “But I knew that was the enemy trying to stop us. We had to keep going, because the next person might experience a breakthrough.”
Moments later, they met Matthew, a man on a bike who stopped to talk. He opened up about his struggles and said he wanted to surrender his life to Jesus. Right there on the street, they prayed together as he gave his heart to Christ.
When Keilani got home that night, she couldn’t stop thinking about her friend Navjot, who was raised in the Sikh religion but had always been curious about Jesus. She called her to share about the night’s outreach, how God was moving, and how Matthew had prayed to follow Jesus.
Navjot had never heard of a “salvation prayer,” so Keilani explained what it was and prayed for her before hanging up.
The next day, Navjot sent a message that stunned Keilani. “After we talked, I looked up the salvation prayer online and prayed it out loud. And this morning, I was at a coffee shop when a few girls came up to my table and asked to pray for me.”
What began as a night of street evangelism became a chain reaction of God’s love, reaching from the noise of 6th Street to the quiet corner of a coffee shop.
“It reminded me never to let hard moments stop us from sharing the Gospel,” Keilani reflected. “You never know how far one conversation about Jesus can go.”
