Halloween in Crimea: God’s Love in Action

Holy disguise: Kirill turns a Halloween outfit into a frontline ministry tool.

“What would you ask God for?”
“To believe in Him again.”

That was “Lukas,” standing outside a rock bar on Halloween night in Simferopol, Crimea. Right there in the chaos of the streets, with costumes, loud music, and the usual Halloween frenzy, Steiger missionary Kirill led him in a prayer of surrender to Jesus. Even the security guard paused, stepped closer, and joined them, witnessing the power of God move openly in the middle of the nightlife.

This outreach happened during the Halloween season, when Steiger teams all around the world take to the streets. While many see Halloween as a dark or spiritually heavy time, Steiger sees it as a unique moment when people are more open, disarmed, and willing to talk about deeper things. Across dozens of cities, missionaries stepped into clubs, bars, parks, and parties to share the hope of Jesus with those who might never walk into a church.

Kirill went out that night with a bold and simple idea: he dressed as a priest and carried a handmade box labeled “Confession.” He invited anyone willing to pray, repent, and encounter Jesus. The moment people realized he wasn’t just wearing a Halloween costume, lines began forming in nightclubs, bars, concerts, and restaurants. People opened up, confessed, cried, hugged him, and said they felt a heavy burden lift off their souls.

What began as one man’s creative outreach became a powerful move of God in the heart of the city; one story among many that happened across the Steiger global family during Halloween season.
