“Catacomb Party: Life’s Short”

This April, something amazing happened in Subotika, Serbia.
Stefan from our team and his friends hosted an event called “Catacomb Party: Life’s Short”—a bold, creative attempt to reach people in a place they would least expect it. Zoli, a friend of the team who runs a trendy café/pub in the heart of the city, opened up his backyard for the event—offering the perfect mix of urban edge and underground rawness.
Upstairs, the party was alive with music, lights, food, laughter. But underneath the surface something deeper was taking place. Hidden beneath the café is a network of tunnels, and that night, they transformed them into a space for soul-searching.
One of the artists on the team created a powerful, interactive installation in the tunnels that was dark, thought-provoking, and deeply symbolic. From 6 p.m. to midnight, they guided small groups of guests through this immersive experience in 15-minute intervals. Each station along the tour explored themes like mortality, the passing of time, the search for meaning, the afterlife, and the brokenness we all carry.

But it didn’t end there.
At the end of the journey, they shared the full message of the Gospel. That Jesus meets us in our brokenness. That through his death and resurrection, there is healing, forgiveness, and purpose. Guests were invited to respond—to either return to the party or stop and talk with someone on our team.
Many stayed. Many wanted to know more. That night, they had real conversations about life, faith, and Jesus, right there in the middle of a party.
All around, the night was a big win for the Kingdom. God planted seeds, stirred hearts, and our team made deep connections with people they’re now following up with through Bible studies, and coffee conversations.

Reflecting about the after effects, Stefan said: “It was so encouraging to see the fruits of this cool project in the lives of the people whose hearts were touched. Our team had a lot of great conversations late into the night, and we made new connections with some key people in the scene so we are looking forward to hosting similar events in the future! I shared about the party with some nonbeliever friends who missed it, they said that they would like to even volunteer the next time we do something similar to this because they thought it’s a really cool concept.”
God is moving in creative spaces like backyards, tunnels, and art installations. He’s meeting people where they are, and using bold, relevant expressions of truth to cut through the noise. Life is short, and Jesus is worth everything.
