September 2005
Dear Friends,
We were playing at the "Munster Monster Punkrock Disaster" in a club called "Tryptichon in Munster, Germany.
"Tryptichon" is a club located in the middle of a large, abandoned industrial compound completely covered with graffiti.
There was a heavy demonic atmosphere that mocked what Jesus did on the cross.
Hanging from one of the squatted warehouses was a stuffed animal nailed to a cross. Another large metal cross with a metal Jesus nailed to it was across the road from the entrance to the club.
I was glad we could be there and confront this mocking spirit and preach the true message of the cross.
When our concert was over I invited all those who were interested in hearing more about Jesus to come outside the club under a canopy.
About a hundred people came out with us.
I went on to share more about Jesus while someone on the dark outer edge of the crowd threw small rocks at us.
We were hoping that whoever was throwing the rocks wouldn’t discover larger rocks or the empty beer bottles laying around.
After I was done I asked Ben Clark (a member of our band) to give his testimony.
He shared about how hard his heart was before he knew Jesus, how he had been lost and confused. But when he humbled himself and asked Jesus into his life He gave him a soft heart and a purpose and meaning to his life.
When Ben was through speaking I asked those who wanted to know more to stay and asked everyone else to leave.
We all hoped the guy throwing the rocks would be one of those that would leave. (I think he did!)
One of those that stayed was Olaf. He had a shaved head, pierced face, and a pentagram tattooed on his shoulder. He was kneeling there in the dirt and Ben went over to talk to him. He told Ben that what he shared was his whole life.
He went on to explain that his heart was very hard toward God and that he wanted Jesus to come into his life and give him a new beginning.
He was sick of his life and wanted to be set free. So they sat together in the dirt as Olaf received Jesus into his life. It was so sincere and earnest that we know God heard his prayer that night!!
During our European evangelistic tour we often played in secular clubs like this where Jesus is never proclaimed.
Even though the crowds were often aggressive and very anti-Christian we saw more than one thousand people give their lives to Jesus!
The local churches we are partnering with are following up on those who responded and we are now trying to know how to respond to all the new opportunities that have opened up as a result.
Thank you for your financial support and prayers that make it possible for thousands to hear that Jesus loves them for the first time.
The harvest is indeed great and there are no closed doors for Jesus!
For the lost,
David & Jodi Pierce
