DAVID & JODI PIERCE

HISTORY

NEWSLETTER

October 2005

Dear Friends,

We drove all night with no sleep still dirty from the previous concert.

After a quick shower we went to a maximum security prison to eat.  We didn’t bring the girls with us to the prison because they can be too much of a distraction to the prisoners.  (Something I have learned from previous prison concerts.)

The priest that organized the concert in the prison told us that is was “the worst kind of prison in Poland.”  The men were in their cells all day and were allowed out only 30 minutes a day for good behavior.  The cells were overcrowded with 12 men in a cell designed for 8 so there was no private space.

Most were doing 25 year sentences or more for the worst kinds of crimes.  The prisoners on good behavior were allowed in the courtyard during our concert; the rest would have to watch from their cell windows.

The priest told me not to get the prisoners “too worked up” because there would not be any guards in the courtyard.

We started the concert with Rob tied down to a plank wearing a straight jacket and a “Hannibal Lector” steel mask.  The band carried him into the prison courtyard while he screamed like a lunatic.

Then we did a version of the crucifixion and resurrection of Jesus in the concert.  It turned out to be more realistic than normal because my head was cut by the crown of thorns when it was put over my eyes.

So I was covered with a combination of stage blood and real blood.  So things looked pretty realistic and I think the prisoners liked it.

I was then killed and put into a coffin.  Later I broke out of the coffin to show how Jesus rose from the dead.   After that I preached to the prisoners.

When I was preaching I felt an unbelievable presence of God.  As I looked into the eyes of those tough men I could feel God’s broken heart for them.

I invited any who were ready to come to Jesus to come forward and kneel with me in the dirt.  To our amazement nearly everyone in the courtyard responded!!

I asked all the men who were kneeling with me to form a circle. They then prayed out loud and asked Jesus into their lives while the other prisoners watching from the barred windows were shouting and mocking us.

After that we had long conversations before they had to go back to their cells.  We even had conversations with some men watching from the windows who said they wanted to ask Jesus into their lives.

While we were leaving one of the prisoners gave us a painting he had done to thank us.  He is in for life for murdering someone he was painting.  He killed him with a paint brush!

We all left the prison rejoicing at how powerfully God moved.  I was also surprised how good I felt even though I hadn’t slept for two days

This is another example of what we saw God do during our recent evangelistic tour in Europe.  Everywhere we go we see the power of the gospel transforming lives!   So I am expecting God to do great things as we embark on our South American Evangelistic Tour this month.

Thank you for helping us to proclaim the love of Jesus to those who have only heard lies.  God wants them to hear the truth!

For the lost,
David & Jodi Pierce

PRAYER REQUESTS:

Because the gospel will be presented in many places where Jesus has NEVER been proclaimed before we need people who will stand with us in prayer.  So please pray for the following:

1)      We only need $13,000 US dollars for the remaining cost of this evangelistic tour.  Please consider if you should help us with this need. I expect hundreds to find Jesus in totally unreached places.  We will be working with local churches and our Steiger teams in Chile & Brazil to make sure those who respond are cared for.

2)      Please pray for physical protection for our international team.  We will often be in hostile clubs where there are lots of drunk people and crime.  Pray for Jesus to protect our team and that we can boldly preach the gospel.

3)      Pray that the bands we play with, the promoters, and club owners give their lives to Jesus. Also pray that Jesus brings the people to our concerts that are ready to give their lives to Him and keep those away that only come to cause trouble.

September 30 - October 2    Ecuador- David & Jodi will be giving teaching to youth leaders from different churches throughout Ecuador on evangelism*

October 2 - November 7       South American Evangelistic Tour*

*Because of the sensitive nature of some of the clubs and venues we will be in, I am not giving any more detail at this time.
