“Jesus said there is a great harvest but few workers; we are asking God to send out more workers—men and women willing to accept a piece of God's broken heart for the world.”
Dear Friends,
I am writing from Sao Paulo, Brazil the fourth largest city in the world—a dangerous city of 20 million people. Beth, one of the Brazilian girls who attended our school in New Zealand last year, was robbed just two days ago in broad daylight inside a bank!
Garbage Mouth is a "low class" red light district in Sao Paulo where children only 7 or 8 years old are addicted to crack cocaine, and young girls are trapped in prostitution. In the past, the police in the city have hunted and gunned these young girls down like animals. The work that Sandro Baggio, the leader of Steiger Brazil, helps to oversee in this region brings the love of Jesus to this desperate place.
Jodi and I will be spending time with the team in Garbage Mouth in a few days. Jodi has just finished giving a 3 day teaching to the young women in Sandro's church and she has had a chance to pray and talk with many who want to know God’s plans for their lives.
The cement floors in the meetings where I have been preaching in Brazil have been wet with tears. Hundreds of people have responded, many on their faces at the front, crying out to God.
Jesus said there is a great harvest but few workers; we are asking God to send out more workers—men and women willing to accept a piece of God's broken heart for the world. The response in the meetings has been overwhelming. I have spoken 7 times so far—everything from a mission’s conference to a Gothic band release party—and I have really felt Jesus with me. In a few days I will be giving an Evangelistic Band Seminar and many young artists are expected to attend.
Doors are opening up for us all over South America. One pastor who is a man of great influence
in the state of Sao Paulo (he was just asked to run for the office of mayor in his city) wants us to come back next year and teach on how to bring Jesus to secular urban youth culture. We have also received invitations from pastors in Chile and Paraguay to do the same. So we are working with Sandro, Sergio and the rest of the Steiger team in Sao Paulo to organize big evangelistic training seminars for next year in Brazil, Chile and Paraguay. I believe God will use these seminars to release a new generation of young evangelists and church planters throughout South America.
Thank you for helping us to bring the love of Jesus all over the world. Jodi and I REALLY need your prayers and support!! Pray that Jesus keeps us healthy and safe as we are constantly traveling. We are sometimes in dangerous areas, so we need God to strengthen us and give us His power.
For the lost,
David & Jodi Pierce
