June 2007
Dear Friends,
The first time I was in Turkey our concert was canceled at the last minute; we needed different permits all of a sudden. Our promoter said that tension in Lebanon was a factor.
So we went out onto the streets in front of a big mosque where we invited people to come and hear us play at an ancient church in Istanbul that Sunday. We were joined by a local church. They were very timid and nervous about it. One guy from the church said we were in a part of the city where lots of Islamic extremists lived, so he didn't think we could invite people openly.
We did anyway and it wasn't a problem. People from Turkey and Iran came to the concert that Sunday. After the concert about 20 people came forward to give their lives to Jesus for the first time. It was hard to know the exact number because the electricity went out in the church while I was preaching. As we knelt together in the church many were weeping openly as they cried out to God. We finally all held hands together and sang "Holy is the Lord God Almighty, the whole earth is filled with His glory."
Afterwards, one young man about the age of one of my sons asked if we could talk. He was from Iran and the only Christian in his family. He asked me to pray that God would protect him when he went back to Teheran to meet his family. I prayed for his protection and that his father would understand why he gave his life to Jesus. Someone else who lived on the border of Turkey and Iran asked if he could duplicate our evangelistic concert on DVD and give them out everywhere in Iran. "Of course!" I said.
That night I also talked with people working in the underground church in Iran. They asked me to pray for them, that Jesus would give them courage and boldness. Together we prayed that God would give us an anointing like Paul’s when he was in Ephesus—people would touch his clothes and be healed. We prayed that Jesus would come in undeniable power.
I believe this is the only way to reach Muslim world. The key is in seeing God's power, not in having debates about whether Jesus was a prophet or if the Bible has been changed (which is what many people are taught in the mosques.) Only the power of Jesus can change people’s lives. So please pray with us, that when we go on this evangelistic tour people will not just hear words about God, but that they will see that Jesus is alive, and that He is more powerful than the spirit of Islam.
For the lost,

PRAYER NEEDS
- Pray for my health. Often before a tour I get attacked physically with strange rashes or mouth infections. Pray that I do NOT get sick on this tour.
- Pray for my family (and of course the band), that we will have God's protection as we travel and proclaim Jesus openly.
- Pray for the promoters in each country, that they will have wisdom and get us into the right venues, that thousands can hear about Jesus and for a great response. Also, that more doors will open up for future follow-up tours.
- Pray for the remaining funds to come in. We only need 10,000US dollars to cover all the remaining costs of this evangelistic tour!!
