August 2007

Dear Friends,

It wasn't the first time during our two weeks at the * Spirit Festival * that someone was in our camp crying out for forgiveness. Earlier in the week a woman came weeping one morning and telling us how sorry she was. She had been screaming from the woods across the path from us for two days. Somehow she felt the conviction of God for "sending the devil" over to us the night before (we had a crazy night with some violence directed at us).

But as we were breaking camp, preparing to hike out in the morning, a young man came running into our camp greatly agitated. He fell on his knees and started crying out to God and to us for help. He had just been dosed (taken LSD) and wanted it to stop. He was crying out to God in repentance. A group of us surrounded him, laid hands on him and prayed. We read scripture to him and reminded him of what was true. He ended up falling asleep, safe in the presence of Jesus with someone from our group keeping an eye on him throughout the night.

Two weeks later my wife, Kirsty, and I were in Kansas City before I left for Germany. We walked into the house of some Christians we had met at the festival and there was this same young man.  I hugged him and heard the rest of his story. He told me how he ended up at a conference with other Christians where he met God in a significant way. He was full of praise and thankfulness for what God did in his life. He thanked us more than once for being at the Festival.
Text Box:

It is so encouraging to see God's power to change a person’s life. During the festival we prayed with dozens of people, fed hundreds and gave away cases of Bibles. We had a Bible reading station this year where someone from our team was reading scripture out loud. We made it through the New Testament a few times.  We felt such freedom to worship in our nightly service even in the midst of the chaos. A few nights I was interrupted as I preached by people who had taken some kind of substance or alcohol. But the presence of God was in our camp

Mark Johnson
Steiger Minneapolis

This is only a portion of a report about what God did at the Spirit Festival in the USA where Mark Johnson, the leader of Steiger Minneapolis has been taking teams since 1995.  God moved powerfully and many saw that Jesus was real! (We are giving this event an alias because we are still working heavily in this scene.)

I am writing you from Karlsruhe, Germany where the international eldership of Steiger has been meeting and seeking God. We have had a powerful time together and we are full of faith and vision for the future. In a few days Jodi and I fly to Istanbul, Turkey to meet up with the rest of the No Longer Music Team. Then we fly together to Kyrgyzstan to begin our tour.

Please pray for God’s protection and anointing as we boldly lift up the cross in this unreached Muslim Country.  Thank you so much for your prayers and support!
