No Longer Music in Beirut, Lebanon
Dear Friends
The first time we played in front of the church in Beirut, Lebanon many people responded to the message, and prayed to receive Jesus. The band was able to speak with people in the crowd, and we gave out several Arabic bibles. In a city visibly scared by conflict and violence, we were able to bring the redeeming message of Christ, and God clearly moved. There were some people in the crowd, however, that did not react well to our show. We later found out that many people in the crowd were angry about our show and our message, so much so that they plotted to cause a riot at our second show in front of the same church the following night.
The following night, about five minutes before the start of our show, we were told that if we performed that night, there would be violence. Not wanting to start a riot, I decided that while the band stayed back stage, I would preach to the large crowed, eagerly anticipating the start of our show. I stood on the stage and told the crowd that they could have personal relationship with a loving God who created them. Before I could finish, a guy jumped on stage and began to shout at me, telling me I needed to stop preaching. So I jumped off stage I challenged all those who wanted to know Jesus to kneel with me on the ground. Many people knelt, and as I began to pray, a man grabbed my arm forced it down, and again told me to stop what I was doing.
The crowd, angry that our show had been cancelled, began fighting with those who were trying to stop us. Fistfights were literally breaking out all over the crowd. Our promoter urged us to leave as the violence escaladed. He feared that things were getting out of control, and that soon he would have to call "his men with machine guns".

The Ressurection
|
As the army arrived, we quickly packed up our gear, got on the bus, and left the chaotic scene.
God did amazing things in Beirut, Lebanon! Through the tour, many people we were able to hear the redeeming message of Christ. God opened up amazing contacts, one of which pleaded with us to come back.
In February, Jodi and I are planning on returning to Beirut to lead a retreat in the mountains for influential people in the media, art, and
music industries. I expect that this time could influence the whole county as well as others parts of the Arab world.
Jodi is going to Smith College in Northampton, Massachusetts in the first week of October to speak. Pray that God uses her mightily!! I have been speaking in churches and universities and I have seen big responses in the meetings - some, making fresh decisions for Jesus and some for the first time. I will be doing an Evangelistic Artists Seminar at Bethel University in St. Paul, Minnesota on October 3 & 4th. For more info click here.

On Oct 14 Jodi and I will fly to Sao Paulo, Brazil to meet with Sandro Baggio the leader of Steiger in Brazil.
We are so grateful for your prayers and support!

The retreat in Beirut will cost $10,000US dollars to organize. This covers travel costs and the retreat itself. Please consider helping with this need. I need to book our flights now because there are not many flights into Beirut and you have to book things early.
-
Also pray for our contacts in the city who are organizing this. We will probably also be doing TV interviews as well as speaking in some schools and universities while we are there. Also pray for Gods peace to be over the city so that people can have a chance to hear who Jesus is and that we will find favour with people of influence.
-
Pray for wisdom concerning our follow-up plans for Turkey, Finland and Croatia.
-
Pray for the preparations for the Radical Missions School in New Zealand.
