Philosophy of Ministry
We believe God has called us to bring the powerful message of Truth to a culture that has believed lies. In order to do that we must do the things that Jesus did. “Whoever claims to live in him must walk as Jesus did” (1 John 2:6). Jesus was a friend of sinners and a declarer of truth. He walked in the power of the Spirit, confronted hypocrisy in all its forms and openly wept for his people. The places and people he encountered did not defile him. In fact, he made them holy. The radical counter culture needs to meet this Jesus. We must go to them and communicate using the forms and language of their culture. Steiger Minneapolis seeks to do this while maintaining our integrity in Christ and lifting up the godly virtues of humility, sacrifice and generosity.
Jesus Kitchen
The Jesus Kitchen is a Saturday night street outreach on the West Bank in Minneapolis. We feed the street kids, punks, West Bank locals, and anyone who is hungry. As they sit down on the sidewalk and eat we listen to them, love them, pray with or for them and try to point them to Jesus. We also give away Bibles and invite people to the Salvage Yard Church. We really want people to see Jesus as a result of what we do out there on Saturday nights. We go out expecting and longing for God to make a difference in the lives of the people we are reaching out to.
As much as we need people with us out on the street, we also need your prayers at home. When you think of us, pray. Sometimes we think we know the scene better than we do. We need prayer for protection, wisdon, patience, spiritual authority, love, etc. You name it - we need your prayers!
Scallywags
The Scallywags Bike Shop is a non-profit shop that is completely volunteer-run and operates on a donation basis. We provide service to our neighborhood and community, specializing in bike maintenance and repair.
All proceeds from our shop go toward training and sending our mechanics to work alongside people in Rwanda, Africa who use bikes as a necessary tool for their livelihood. For more information, contact Ben or Lisa Clark at: benjoandlisaclark@gmail.com

The Suitcase Sideshow
The Suitcase Sideshow is a traveling Marionette performance, complete with self contained sound and motorcycle lighting. It is designed to go along with other missions work being done in which to serve. The goal is to creatively bring the Gospel to the most remote and hard to reach corners of the world. That may include nursing homes, under bridges, orphanages, Brothels, Gypsy Villages, cafes, street corners, jungles, or a back yard. The opening acts began in 2005 with performances around Minneapolis and a trip to Brazil, but the longevity of the calling and the vision spans the generations going back to a single act of obedience by Philip Shorey's (producer and founder) ancestors. Read more about it on the journal page at the official website www.suitcasesideshow.org.
SHIFT Discipleship School
SHIFT is a three month, full-time school that is held from the beginning of September to the beginning of December. It is designed to provide a broad foundation for living a life of intentional discipleship and to equip students to endure as mature members of the Body of Christ. Topics include intimacy with God, spiritual disciplines, ministry training, boundaries, Biblical studies, theology and much more. Students also live in community, meet one-on-one with a mentor, and engage in regular service and outreach.

The Salvage Yard
The Salvage Yard Church of Jesus Christ is a church that grew out of the ministry of Steiger Minneapolis. It began as a Bible study designed for unchurched anarchist, atheist and agnostic young people and has grown into an eclectic community of believers who seek to rescue and restore broken people for Jesus and release them into a life of serving him. The Tuesday night worship service, which meets at the Ford Centre in the warehouse district of Minneapolis, is accessible for unbelievers but designed to allow people to connect with God in worship (various styles), in the Word (currently studying the book of Genesis) and in the people. The Salvage Yard Community Houses
As followers of Christ, we believe strongly in interdependent relationships.
We live in a continually fragmented and isolated world, despite our efforts to make the world smaller. We continue to isolate and separate because of our brokenness, however at the core of our being we all desire wholeness personally and relationally. We desire to come into the fullness of who Christ intends us to be, and into the fullness of healthy relationship with Christ and with those around us.
Living with other believers in intentional interdependency is an incredible opportunity for growth. A place where we can truly be like iron sharpening iron. A place for daily accountability and encouragement. A place where mediocrity will not survive, and radical living is encouraged.
There are a growing number of community houses that are connected to the Salvage Yard Church. They each have slightly different personalities and functions. Each house is growing and changing constantly, so it is recommended you contact Sharne Winter-Simat Sharne@mailpanda.com who is the point person for all the houses if you would like more information.

Feeding Children International (FCI)
Feeding Children – Steiger Minneapolis packages a highly nutritious blend of rice, soy, dehydrated vegetables and chicken flavoring. Volunteers come to our warehouse to help package this food; it's is a great opportunity for people here in the Minneapolis area to have a huge impact in the lives of children throughout the world (specifically in Malawi, Africa where we ship a significant amount of food). FCI – Steiger Minneapolis started in May of 2002 and since then we’ve packaged and shipped over one million meals to people in dire need of nutritious food. Our mission is not only to see that our food feeds starving children, but it is also that people come to know the love of Jesus through what we do, both overseas and here in the U.S.
