In order to meet the opportunities that God has given us to bring the Gospel to unreached places around the world, we at Steiger are currently looking to establish a strategic international headquarters in Dresden, Germany. This headquarters will dramatically increase Steiger’s capacity by training, equipping and releasing new evangelists, church planters and discipleship teams around the world to reach the lost secular youth culture for Christ.
Steiger’s leadership has identified a property suitable for this purpose near Dresden, Germany. It includes 3 large buildings (total of 28,000 square feet or 2600 square meters) with dormitories, classrooms and workspaces and 130,000 square feet of land (12,000 square meters). Though a recent government inspection said the replacement value of the property is just under 1 million Euros, the property is in foreclosure. Steiger recently bid 80,000 euros on the property at a court auction on December 10th, which was followed by several days of negotiation with the bank that led to an agreed price of 120,000 euros.
Unfortunately the sale fell through, even though we have sufficient funds to buy the property, due to a few technical issues and time constraints. Now the property can not be sold through the bank until another court date can be scheduled (likely to be in March). We would love to be able to get the property before then so that we could use it for our first Missionary Training School that will take place in April.
Fortunately, it turns out that, according to German law, if the current owner of the property (who is losing the property to foreclosure) consents to sell us the property, we do not have to wait until another court auction to take place in a few months. Michael Sengle - the Steiger Germany base leader - has been able to develop a relationship with the current owner and has planted the seed of selling the property to us outside of the courts.
Michael is going to follow up with the owner of the property in January. Please consider committing a significant amount of time in intense prayer related to this project and in particular, the current owner and his willingness to sell the property to us outside of the courts. Please pray that God will soften the heart of the owner and that we will be able to buy this property as soon as possible, which is uniquely suited to meet our needs.
